Project Kindred Transportation
Terms + Conditions

Purpose

Transportation supports access to Project Kindred experiences. This page explains transportation options, planning expectations, family opt in authorizations, supervision boundaries, and key limitations.

Transportation details vary by experience. Project Kindred shares the transportation plan and expectations in advance.

Transportation options and participation

As part of participation, families may opt in to different transportation approaches depending on the experience design and what works best for their situation.

Transportation options may include

  • Meeting at designated locations for Project Kindred provided transportation between designated locations

  • Walking between nearby sites

  • Public transportation

  • Carpool and shared transportation

Not every option applies to every experience. Transportation options may change based on program needs, safety planning, staffing, partner requirements, location access, and external conditions.

Family authorization and opt in

As part of program participation, families authorize the participant to use the transportation options shared for each experience.

Authorization applies only to transportation options that meet all three conditions

  • Shared in advance for the experience

  • Aligned with the participant’s age group and readiness

  • Consistent with these Transportation Terms and Conditions

Families may opt in to more than one transportation approach during a program cycle. Families remain responsible for reviewing transportation details for each experience and for communicating concerns, limitations, or changes to Project Kindred staff as soon as possible.

Participation in an experience confirms the family’s authorization for the transportation options disclosed for that experience.

Scope and limitations of transportation

Transportation connected to Project Kindred experiences may occur in public or community spaces and may involve multiple methods of travel.

Project Kindred does not operate as a transportation provider. Project Kindred does not guarantee specific transportation methods, routes, schedules, supervision levels, availability, or outcomes.

Transportation plans depend on experience design, location, age group, safety considerations, partner requirements, timing, and the transportation options authorized by families.

Walking and movement between locations

Some experiences include walking between locations.

Walking may occur

  • Between nearby sites

  • Within neighborhoods or community areas

  • In public spaces such as sidewalks, campuses, or parks

Project Kindred shares whether staff led group walking applies or whether independent or semi independent movement applies for a specific experience.

Public transportation

Some experiences include travel using public transportation such as buses.

Public transportation may support

  • Travel to or from designated locations

  • Movement between experience sites

When public transportation forms part of an experience, Project Kindred shares whether staff led group travel applies and what expectations apply for participant movement.

Project Kindred does not control public transportation systems, schedules, delays, or conditions.

Partner and off site travel

Some experiences take place at partner or off site locations.

This may include

  • Community organizations

  • Cultural sites

  • Outdoor spaces

  • Locations outside the county

Project Kindred shares meet locations, pickup locations, and timing in advance. Travel to partner locations may occur in public or shared spaces.

Carpool and shared transportation

For some experiences, families may opt in to carpool and shared transportation options.

When available, Project Kindred may share carpool maps, suggested pickup zones, or general coordination tools to support access. Carpool reflects shared responsibility across the community. Participation can look different across families. Some families give rides. Some families receive rides. Some families do both at different times.

When families opt in, Project Kindred asks families to help share the burden when possible, including offering rides within certain nearby areas or meeting at shared pickup points.

Carpool participation may include

  • Offering rides within specific nearby areas

  • Receiving rides when helpful

  • Meeting at shared or agreed upon pickup locations

Carpool remains optional. Project Kindred does not guarantee carpool availability, matching, routes, timing, supervision, or outcomes. Project Kindred does not supervise or control carpool travel.

Carpool travel remains arranged by families. Another parent, guardian, mentor, or trusted adult may drive when carpooling. Families remain responsible for deciding what works for their participant and for confirming their plan.

Project Kindred may limit, modify, or discontinue carpool support at any time based on safety, capacity, or experience needs.

Transportation needs and updates

Transportation needs are shared at the beginning of each program cycle to support planning, safety, and access.

Families and participants may request updates to transportation needs by notifying Project Kindred staff as soon as possible. Project Kindred makes best efforts to accommodate updated needs. Depending on timing, staffing, or experience constraints, changes may not take effect by the next scheduled experience.

For one off or unexpected situations, Project Kindred may offer emergency public transit support, including bus passes, when available. Emergency transit support applies only to the specific experience for which it is provided and does not create an ongoing transportation obligation.

Independent and semi independent movement

Some experiences require participants to move independently or semi independently.

This may include

  • Walking

  • Public transportation

  • Travel to or from designated meet locations

When independent or semi independent movement applies

  • Project Kindred does not provide direct supervision during that travel

  • Participants remain responsible for following shared instructions and timelines

  • Families remain responsible for deciding readiness for independent movement

Project Kindred shares when independent or semi independent movement applies.

Project Kindred provided transportation

Some experiences include transportation provided by Project Kindred between designated locations.

When Project Kindred provides transportation

  • Transportation occurs only between designated pickup and drop off locations shared in advance

  • Participants must arrive with enough time to complete the required check in process before the scheduled departure time

  • Departure occurs on the shared schedule. Late arrival may result in missing provided transportation

Families remain responsible for travel before arrival at and after release from designated locations unless Project Kindred shares a different plan in advance.

Supervision boundaries

Supervision depends on the transportation method and the experience design.

A designated location refers to a location shared by Project Kindred in advance for a specific experience.

When supervision applies, Project Kindred follows layered safety practices aligned to the experience. Project Kindred aims to follow a rule of three whenever possible, meaning three layers of safety support, such as clear instructions, active check ins, and a backup plan for transitions.

Supervision begins when a participant is formally received by Project Kindred staff or a designated partner or adult, as shared for the experience. Supervision concludes when the participant is formally released, unless Project Kindred shares a different plan in advance.

Supervision may apply

  • During Project Kindred provided transportation

  • During staff led group travel between sites

Supervision does not apply

  • During independent or semi independent travel

  • During travel before a participant has been formally received as shared for the experience

  • During travel after a participant has been formally released

  • During carpool or family arranged transportation

Project Kindred shares supervision expectations and transportation details in advance through the primary contact method on file.

Timing and attendance expectations

Timely arrival supports safe and coordinated transportation.

Participants are expected to

  • Arrive at designated locations early enough to complete required check in before the shared departure time

  • Follow communicated arrival, pickup, and return times

  • Remain ready for departure at the scheduled time

  • Communicate transportation related delays as soon as possible using the primary contact method on file

Late arrival may result in missed transportation. Project Kindred does not take responsibility for missed transportation or related impacts caused by late arrival or by delays outside Project Kindred’s control.

Transportation release and pickup timing will be shared in advance. Families remain responsible for coordinating travel according to the shared plan unless Project Kindred shares a different plan in advance.

Changes, delays, and adjustments

Transportation plans may change due to factors outside Project Kindred’s control or in response to safety, timing, partner needs, or logistical constraints.

This may include changes related to

  • Weather conditions

  • Traffic or transit disruptions

  • Staffing or capacity changes

  • Partner site needs or availability

  • Public transportation delays or cancellations

Project Kindred may adjust

  • Designated locations

  • Departure or return times

  • Routes or transportation methods

  • Supervision plans related to transportation

Updates will be shared as soon as reasonably possible through the primary contact method on file.

Project Kindred does not take responsibility for transportation disruptions or delays caused by factors outside Project Kindred’s control.
